Functional renormalization group method

Janos Polonyi

Abstract

The recent advance in generalizing the renormalization group method to solve strongly coupled quantum field theory models is reviewed.

Lecture 1:
Different procedures based on bare and effective actions are introduced and their strong and weak points are mentioned.

Lecture 2:
The way vacuua with condensates emerge is described. Prospects of the application of functional methods for the description of the low energy behaviour of Yang-Mills models are briefly discussed.
