Off-equilibrium response function in phase ordering systems

Marco Zannetti

Abstract

The linear response function is investigated during the slow relaxation dynamics following the quench of a non disordered system from above to below the critical point. A non trivial and interesting behavior is found from numerical simulations in the Ising model and from the exact analytical solution in the large-N model. The prominent feature of the emerging pattern, which is likely to be more general, is the dimensionality dependence of the aging part of the response function and the existence of a lower dimensionality where this does not vanish asymptotically. The mechanism of this behavior is analysed and implications for the connection with the static properties are discussed.
