Old and New results in the CFT approach to QHE

Abstract
I will discuss the Topological Order for the Laughlin and Jain plateaux in Quantum Hall Physics from the point of view of CFT.Some old results about the phase diagram are reanalyzed in view of recent results. Then the relation between modular invariance of CFT and Generalized Duality in statistical systems is made clear. As outcome previously observed connections whith string and branes Theory are finally understood as topological effects induced by the magnetic field.
