Confinement and string effects from random percolation: a novel approach

Antonio Rago

Abstract

We propose a novel approach to confinement in gauge theory, by defining a new three-dimensional gauge theory directly on the random percolation process. In such a way Wilson loops are viewed as counters of the topological linking with the random clusters. We will discuss how this system may take into account the area decay law in the Wilson loop potential, the universal shape of the flux tube fluctuations, a non-trivial glueball spectrum and a finite temperature of deconfinement.
