Title
Rare B decays
Abstract
I will review salient features of rare B decays.
Together with studies of CP violation, they constitute
the principal interest in studies of B physics. In the Standard
Model, they provide valuable information on the CKM matrix elements,
in particular involving the couplings of the top quark with the down-type
quarks.
The role of QCD in quantifying this information will be underlined.
In theories beyond the standard model, precision studies of rare
B decays may reveal subtle but definite effects. Some
popular examples involving radiative and semileptonic B decays
will be discussed in the context of supersymmetry.
