Purpose
The “Space It Up” project, funded by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and the Ministry of Universities and Research (MUR), aims to enhance Italian space technology for space exploration and utilization, with strategic spin-offs for scientific research and technological innovation.
Coordinated by the Politecnico di Torino, the project involves 33 partners including universities, research centers and companies, with total funding of 80 million euros.
The National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) is among the key players in the initiative, providing its established expertise in fundamental physics and advanced technologies. INFN’s contribution focuses particularly on data analysis and the development of enabling technologies for future science-based space missions.
INFN’s participation demonstrates its commitment to promoting innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration in the space sector, strengthening Italy’s scientific and industrial ecosystem. The institute also contributes to the achievement of the project’s key objectives, including the advancement of fundamental knowledge, the sustainability of space activities and the possibility of long-term human endurance in extraterrestrial space.
