50th Celebration INFN Bari
Fifty years; half a century; ten decades; five lustra; golden jubilee … Whatever unit of measurement you decide to use, it remains a notable anniversary; one of great importance in the life of an institution.
Our Bari Division of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) reaches this important anniversary this year and we would like to celebrate it not only by recalling our past activities but, above all, also by recounting future ones. Both reenactment and future vision cannot ignore the history of the people, the main characters of our activities, those who turned imagination into reality.
The strength of our Organization lies in the peculiar ability to combine on the one hand, craftsmanship with innovative technologies, and on the other, cutting-edge research and higher education.
The whole blended by the sharing of fundamental skills of the staff members, breaking down every kind of formal or role related barriers. All driven by the desire to break down geographical boundaries, collaborating worldwide with high-ranking international institutions.
All this can only be narrated through the history of people, the memory of those who have passionately dedicated themselves to our projects. It is difficult to do it without being trapped in a nostalgic mood, but we will do our best effort to avoid it. This recollection is essential to remind those who follow us that it is thanks to the work, competence and dedication of those preceding us that we became an excellence of Research in our country.
It is nice to think that every gesture we make is the result not only of our skills, but also of the teaching drawn from observing and listening to our colleagues. This either if he was a colleague of the division or a colleague met in all the places where the research made in the INFN Bari Division has brought us and will take us.
