Neutrino physics remains key to exploring physics beyond the Standard Model. SND@LHC, a dedicated neutrino experiments at the LHC operational since 2022, has reported the first observation of collider neutrinos.
Using a hybrid detector, it enables flavour identification and studies of forward heavy-flavour production. In this seminar, we will present the most recent results and outline the upgrade program planned for the High-Luminosity LHC.

Dettagli dell'evento
Ultra-relativistic collisions of heavy nuclei at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN and the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) provide unique conditions for studying strongly interacting matter under extreme temperatures and densities. In such collisions, nucleons dissolve into their fundamental constituents, forming a quark–gluon plasma (QGP) reminiscent of the universe a few microseconds after the Big Bang.
The groundwork for the existence of QGP was laid about 50 years ago, soon after the discovery of asymptotic freedom in QCD in 1973. Seminal publications by Collins and Perry and by Cabibbo and Parisi in 1975, along with discussions at the Bear Mountain workshop in December 1974, established the foundation for a global effort that led to major experimental programs at BNL and CERN.
In this presentation, we will trace the history of QGP studies, discuss how the ALICE experiment at the LHC and the STAR experiment at RHIC recreate this primordial matter, review some of the key results, and outline the future experimental program.

Dettagli dell'evento
The workshop aims to gather together the various Italian research communities involved in the study of particle physics at high intensity. The workshop is an opportunity to discuss the present and future of this research area, favouring the discussion and the exchange of ideas and synergies between experiments and with the theoretical community. Favouring the participation of the young members of the high-intensity community is also one of the aims of the workshop, with the dedicated Young Scientist Forum session for which abstracts will be accepted.
The workshop will develop along the lines of the scientific programme summarised below, giving space to the three pillars of our work: theory, physics measurements and detector R&D.
Where: Centro polifunzionale per glistudenti (ex-palazzo delle poste) – Bari
When: 11-14 Novembre 2025
