The exact master equation for a two-level quantum system (qubit) in interaction with a bosonic environment under the rotating-wave approximation is derived analytically when the environment is initially prepared in an arbitrary thermal state.
The asymptotic behavior of the evolution operator, which governs the dynamics of the system and the environment, is evaluated analytically at large times and the conditions for the system to approach an equilibrium are discussed.
